Our bloggers

  • Peter Luckow – After taking a year off of school to work full-time at the GlobeMed National Office, Peter recently returned to Northwestern University to complete his studies in anthropology and global health.  He has interned with Partners In Health and the Division of Global Health Equity at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  Peter has worked, listened, and learned during brief trips to Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana, and Guatemala. In his free time, Peter focuses his energies primarily on The Colbert Report, the Chicago Cubs, and Chipotle burritos.
  • Jon Shaffer – Jon is a senior biomedical engineering major and global health minor at Northwestern University. As the president of GlobeMed at NU, Jon has been actively involved in studying and working on issues of health equity since his freshman year. By working in partnership with grassroots health leaders and GlobeMed students at Northwestern, he lead efforts improve child nutrition and expand diagnostic facilities at the HOPE Center, a rural medical clinic in Ho, Ghana. He is currently spending too much time blogging about global health instead of studying the application of mass and heat transfer to medical devices… so he’ll leave it there for now.
  • Ankur Asthana – Ankur is a junior at Northwestern University majoring in biomedical engineering. He has learned a tremendous amount about issues of poverty, structural violence, and development from his work with communities in rural Panama on various engineering projects. This past summer Ankur had the opportunity to continue his learning through an internship at Global Health Delivery Online. Ankur is originally from the small town of Menomonie in Wisconsin, believes that Taco Bell is infinitely more satisfying than Chipotle, and enjoys a competitive game of Super Smash Brothers anytime.

Can you provide contact information for anyone that is interested in submitting articles to be published on SGHE? More specific information on who you are, where your interests lie and other sites you write for would also be helpful.
